LOTTERY CELEBRATES 26TH ANNIVERSARY BY MAKING A KANSAS CITY MAN A MILLIONAIRE

The Missouri Lottery celebrated its 26th anniversary today by drawing one entrant in its “Silver Anniversary” promotion to win $1 million. Larry Hall of Kansas City was selected as the promotion’s $1 million grand-prize winner. His name was drawn in October as one of 25 entrants that month to win $1,000.
Starting last January, the Lottery’s 25th anniversary, players could enter non-winning $10 “Silver Anniversary” tickets into a monthly drawing. Each month 25 entrants were drawn to win $1,000 and qualified to be an entrant in the final grand-prize drawing held today.
“What better way to culminate our 25th anniversary year-long celebration than with a drawing for $1 million on our 26th anniversary,” said May Scheve Reardon, executive director of the Missouri Lottery. “Making big winners is what the Missouri Lottery is all about.”
Reardon said in addition to awarding $1 million, the Lottery is celebrating more than $14.4 billion in sales.
“Even more important, since the Lottery started on Jan. 20, 1986, it has generated more than $4.1 billion for the state and public education programs,” Reardon said. “More than $8.6 billion has been awarded to players in prizes, and retailers have earned more and $891.9 million for selling Lottery tickets. Needless to say, the Missouri Lottery has been a huge success!”
