There’s always an occasion worthy of a big entrance, such as a wedding, a special birthday, the red carpet, even a pick-up at the local Lottery headquarters ! Shawn Niedomanski arrived in style to claim his Powerball prize. And what an impression he made when he pulled up Lottery Headquarters in a chauffeur-driven sleek black limousine with his wife-of-16 years, his brother, nephew and three friends by his side. National lottery
Funny enough, Niedomanski waited two weeks before making the ride to the Lottery because he wanted to wait for his birthday to do it. He wanted to make his day really special from the start and it didn’t bother him at all that he had to wait.
The kitchen remodeler had bought the Powerball ticket that won him the second prize of $200,000 two weeks ago on a Tuesday. He had won $2 on Keno so he decided to invest those two lucky dollars in Powerball tickets. The clerk at that time had suggested that since it was Tuesday it would be the day for Mega Millions drawing, but the Frederick County man wasn’t persuaded. He insisted to the clerk, “No, I want Powerball.”
On Thursday after the Powerball drawing and Shawn had actually forgot all about it. A friend came by and mentioned to Shawn that a second-tier winning ticket had been sold at the retailer where he made his Powerball purchases. Shawn was very calm and actually didn’t think anything of it, but when the clerk at Green Valley W & S, located at 11801 Fingerboard Rd. in Monrovia told him when the ticket was sold, he realized he was there at that exact moment. Lottery numbers
When Shawn returned home, his neighbor came over with the winning numbers from the drawing and they checked his ticket. “I started jumping up and down,” said the delighted winner. The same neighbor, who also accompanied him to claim the prize said, “I told him, ‘If if couldn’t be me, I’m glad it was you.”
Although Shawn intends to use his prize money to pay bills and get out of debt, he was already has all using some of it to celebrate. The group of friends and family members in the limousine were headed to Charlestown, where they were going to continue celebrating Shawn’s win and his lucky birthday.
The Powerball win wasn’t the only windfall that Shawn can account for on the day of his birthday, during their visit to Charlestown he also won $1000 at a casino. He also has confessed that he spends an average of $50 on lottery tickets and he is most probably hoping to win the jackpot someday. In the meantime, although $200,000 will not make a huge difference in his lifestyle he will be able to pay off a lot of bills and take it easy for a while.
