LOTTERY PRIZE HELPS MAN LIVE HIS DREAM
July 18, 2011

Luck is a mysterious thing. Sometimes, you need to go through something bad before something good happens. This is the case of Joel Torres, a man who dreamed all his life to become a professional baseball player. It must have been terrible for him to find out that the Cleveland Indians had released him from their minor league system. However, unemployment also came with an up side for Joel Torres, as the 21 year old outfielder managed to win a $1 million prize at the New York State Lottery. The now former baseball player purchased lottery tickets for the Sweet Million game, and one of them proved to be the winner. Lottery numbers

He was visiting his mother when he purchased the lucky ticket and he opted for the lump sum option, which landed him with $660,300. Lottery checker

“The first thing I plan to do with the money is buy my mom a new house,” Joel Torres stated. Joel also said that maybe the money will help him follow his dream of playing baseball in the major league. The picture he took when presented with the oversized check reveals that his hopes and dreams have not been crushed. Namely, it shows him still wearing a Indians baseball cap as he is claiming his prize. Lottery winning numbers

Torres said that the money he won will help him be financially secure while he looks for a new team. He doesn’t need to go to work, so he is free to do whatever he likes.

“My dream, since I was a kid, is baseball. That’s what I’m going to continue doing. I’m going to keep swinging, swinging for the fences,” Joel Torres stated.

The man was fielded by the Cleveland Indians in 38 games on the Arizona Fall League, he managed a .184/.260/.307 line with one home run and 14 RBIs.

This is just another example of how the lotteries can help people pursue their dreams. Let’s face it, for some of us, money isn’t everything, but they sure are handy. For Joel Torres, the lottery money will provide a carefree life, with the sole purpose of living his dream. We believe there is nobody in this world who could ever ask for more.
