The defensive tackle for the Philadelphia Eagles has been diagnosed with a brain condition which may need surgery according to his trainer Rick Burkholder. On Thursday morning Burkholder said that Mike Patterson was undergoing a number of further tests and is at the moment listed as being in a stable condition. The 28 year old was hospitalized after he suffered a seizure on Wednesday morning at a training camp at Lehigh University. Powerball lottery
Burkholder said “In medicine today, there’s tons of options,” “Everybody wants to jump right into surgery and I’m not saying for this particular case, I’m saying with everything, but there’s so many other avenues out there. It would be foolish to speculate what’s going to happen to Mike.”
Patter who is 300 pounds and is 6 foot 1 has been diagnosed with was is called arteriovenous malformation which is in layman’s terms a tangling of blood vessels near the skull. Mega lottery
Burkholder said “We’re pretty sure it’s what caused the seizure and we’re pretty sure it’s not football-related,” “It just so happened at football practice. It could’ve happened anywhere.”
The AVMs are the malformations or the tangles of the arteries and the veins which can alter blood flow to the brain. Thee cause is not known but they are usually birth defects. These can form anywhere but they mostly form in the brain or the spinal column. Around 300,000 Americans are thought to have been affected by AVMs. But most people do not experience any of these symptoms and are not aware of the issue until there is a symptom that crops up. Rickert speaking to the Associated Press said “Rick spoke to one doctor who evaluated Mike that’s leaning toward the diagnosis of AVM,” “Two other doctors are not leaning toward AVM. They haven’t ruled it out, but they’re not leaning in that direction at all. They’re saying it’s premature to diagnose him in that capacity. “We’re going to take Mike to a fourth specialist to get an opinion. After we get that opinion, Mike and Bianca will get together and make a decision about the best course of action based on which opinion they want to follow.”
Burkholder said “He’s antsy to get out of the hospital and get to the next step,” “He’s always upbeat and that’s the way he is now.”
