The laws of the New Jersey state lottery don’t forgive anyone. A Super Gold Deli had its license revoked and received a $10,000 fine because an employee admitted to selling a winning ticket with a ‘discount’. This discount was all about the offer of a reduced price for a prize winning ticket, after which the owner of the shop requests the redemption of the ticket value, like he was the actual winner.
This strategy is against lottery rules and regulations, and it usually employed if the purchaser has any monetary liens, which the state investigates when the prize money is over $600. This is not the first time Super Gold employed such a tactic (they previously did so in 2005 when they just had to pay a $10,000 fine) and that is why the New Jersey Lottery Commission decided to permanently ban the store from selling lottery tickets. Unfortunately, that’s all the information available on the matter.
In other news, the Georgia Lottery decided to hold an extra Cash 4 draw, because of some machinery malfunctions that occurred during the last drawing. A ball machine’s trap door opened unexpectedly and allowed quite a few balls to “leak” out. However, a winning combination was declared, but because of the fact that not all balls were available, the Lottery decided to give it another go. The extra draw will take place right after the prescheduled noon draw and it will not be televised, because time frames do not permit it.
But there will be other means with which the players will be able to check their lottery tickets and see if their lottery numbers have hit the jackpot.
“We are very serious about the security and integrity of our games,” Margaret DeFrancisco, Georgia Lottery CEO and President, stated. “We regret that the technical malfunction occurred, and we believe that giving our players an extra opportunity to win is the fair thing to do.”
The Georgia Lottery released a statement, saying that more than 2,700 drawings are live on TV every year, and there is a lot of effort put into each and every one of them. Powerball Lottery
