David Dopp was more than excited when his brand new Lamborghini Murcielago Roadster, a car worth $380,000. That was much more than what he could actually pay for. He won it in a sweepstakes held by a convenience store chain in Utah.
For any man on earth, a sports car is all that you would want in your life, definitely that is actually all guys want, they want to feel the breeze the power the motor gives them and then the smell of a brand new dream car, there is nothing better than that. And of course all the image and the boost that only a Lamborghini can give. State lottery
David Dopp, a truck-driver by trade and by no means rich, would never have imagined being able to drive a Lamborghini in his life, let alone own a Lamborghini. But it happened. It happened when his name was chosen as the winner of the sweepstakes. Now he was an actual owner of a Lamborghini. What a luck, it is almost as good a winning the lottery itself.
So, then, what does a guy with a brand new Lamborghini do? He takes it on joy rides, of course! Following his win, he took turns taking his family and friends on joy rides about town. After all, what are cars for, especially a Lambo, right? I mean if you own it, show it !
Giving away exotic cars in lotteries and sweepstakes is nothing new. Actually they are very popular because they have the status of a dream car and dreams get people high. These types of prizes generate a lot of excitement and publicity, which helps to increase consumer interest in the sweepstakes, sometimes it generates even more excitement than the lottery prize by itself. However, these sweepstakes can be a blessing or it can be a curse. Lotteries
Why would this be? Well, lets consider what David Dopp did as soon as he won his Lamborghini – He took it on a joy ride. When you hear about people taking exotic cars on joy rides, it just seems that the story often ends with a crash. No different with this story – David crashed his Lamborghini a mere six hours after he got it. All that excitement… all that adrenaline… gone in 6 just hours.
We really cannot blame David, he might not have been driving recklessly, it´s just that it is a very different car compared to the one he is used to. The Lamborghini is a very powerful light-weight car and it still had its summer performance tires on. David took a curve at 45 mph and hit some black ice, which was no match for the car’s summer performance tires. The car then jumped a curve and went through a fence before coming to rest about 75 ft from the road. Hopefully, nobody was injured in the crash.
After this, David is planning on selling the car once it gets repaired. Then it will be back to driving trucks.
