WIN ON ICE
November 7, 2011

Don’t you simply like it when there are so many promotions going on with great partnerships between sports teams and lotteries? They not only award sports fan with better than cash prizes, well, that is if you are a real fan. And they simply make the games so much more colorful, fun and exciting. State lottery

Illinois Lottery did it with The Chicago Blackhawks. Now, Massachusetts Lottery is doing it too; it has a Boston Bruins instant scratch ticket, modeled on the reigning Stanley Cup winning NHL team. The game’s already produced many winners, including Kara Flaherty, who won one of the game’s top prizes of $250,000. For people that bought a Boston Bruins scratch ticket but didn’t win anything instantly, they were provided with the opportunity to enter the ticket into a second chance draw.

The number of entries received for the Boston Bruins lottery second chance draw was of 148,000. The winner of the draw would have the opportunity to win money at a Boston Bruins game, live. Rose Thorsen, a woman from Springfield, Massachusetts, was chosen randomly as the winner. The probability of winning a Second Chance Drawing Prize is calculated by taking the maximum number of non-winning tickets in the game divided by the number of non-winning tickets needed per valid entry divided by the number of Second Chance Drawing Prizes for that prize level. The actual probability of winning a Second Chance Drawing Prize in any given drawing will vary depending upon the actual number of entries received for that drawing. Lotteries

Rose Thorsen participated in the event when the Boston Bruins hosted the Ottawa Senators on November 1, 2011. During the intermission, 30 over-sized Boston Bruins scratch games were placed on the ice. Underneath each one was a prize. There were 29 prizes of $100,000 and 1 prize of $250,000. Rose picked ticket number 7 and ended up taking home $100,000. Her demeanor was one to remember, wearing a Bruins jersey and holding her winnings posing for the cameras. Anyone would be this happy if they were caught on camera while they won!

What could make a hockey night more fun than this? The Bruins beat the Senators 5-3 and thousands of fans cheered Rose on as she won $100,000. Drawings are made in between each of the periods and are the best way to cheer the crowd up. People just love watching other people win money, right? It’s an instant high not only for the cash winner but for the teams, the live spectators and those at home.

This event marked the fourth in a total of five $5.00 Boston Bruins second chance drawings -On Ice Challenges. So if this is your kind of excitement there is still one more chance for you, that is if you don’t win instantly. But with this kind of fun, who wants to win instantly?
